Balmain Partnering With H&M

H&M is teaming up with Balmain and Creative Director Olivier Rousteing to create a limited-edition H&M line. The capsule collection will be available online and in 250 H&M stores worldwide on November 5th. (We’re saving the date!) Pieces will be for both men and women. “We are excited to have Balmain as our guest designer at H&M and create a truly involving experience for everybody. With its mix of couture spirit and streetwear attitude, Balmain owns a unique style, at once opulent and direct, sensual and energetic. It is also closely linked to the show business and music worlds, which adds another element of surprise,” said H&M creative advisor Ann-Sofie Johansson.

Rousteing broke the news at last night’s Billboard Music Awards with Jourdan Dunn and Kendall Jenner. In a statement, the designer said, “I want to talk to my generation: this is my main aim as a designer. H&M allows me the unique possibility of bringing everyone into the world of Balmain, get a piece of the dream and create a global #HMBalmaination: a movement of togetherness, fueled on a hashtag. The collaboration felt extremely natural to me: H&M is a brand that everybody connects to. It calls for unity, and I am all for it.”

2015 CFDA Awards Presenters

The names of the presenters for the CFDA Awards on June 1st have been announced. Taraji P. Henson is presenting the accessories award, Amanda Seyfried is announcing for women’s wear and Joshua Jackson for men’s wear. Additional presenters will be announced later this week.

Ascena Acquiring Ann Inc.

Ascena Retail Group has signed on to acquire Ann Inc. in a cash and stock deal worth $2.2 billion. At closing, Ann shareholders will receive $37.34 in cash and 0.68 of a share in Ascena stock. The transaction will close in the second quarter and boards of both companies are all in agreement. “The transaction will make us part of a larger organization with a diversified portfolio of brands focused on the women’s apparel market, ” said Kay Krill, President and CEO of Ann Inc.
