Balenciaga Taps Kate Moss and Lara Stone

Over the weekend, Balenciaga unveiled its fall ad campaign. The dramatic images feature supermodels Kate Moss and Lara Stone, who were shot together for the first time ever. “For me, the fall collection began with the real women of Balenciaga- women who are multifaceted and multidimensional: strong and sensual yet also austere and mysterious. I wanted the first image for the campaign to frame Kate and Lara in a mysterious conversation,” explained Alexander Wang, Balenciaga’s creative director. The full campaign, shot by famed photographer Steven Klein, will appear in the July issues of fashion publications.

Givenchy to Show and Open Flagship During NYFW

Givenchy designer Riccardo Tisci has announced he will show the fashion house’s spring 2016 collection during New York Fashion Week, instead of in Paris. The runway spectacle will take place on September 11th and will be followed by an elaborate soiree. In addition, Givenchy is set to open a new 5,000-square-foot flagship at the end of August. The Tisci-designed space will be located at 747 Madison Avenue at 65th Street. Currently, Givenchy has two boutiques in the US, in Miami and Las Vegas. New stores in Milan, Rome and London are also coming soon.

Paris Couture is Growing

Fashion houses remain optimistic about their growth, especially ahead of the next fashion week in Paris, starting July 5th. Despite slower sales in China, the surging dollar and the weakening ruble, many couture houses are seeing double-digit growth. Chanel fashion president Bruno Pavlovsky, credits Chanel’s growth to a strong, “very wearable” spring 2015 collection by Karl Lagerfeld. The brand’s global runway shows add to the momentum. He added, “2015 will be a good year- probably our best year in haute couture.” Exchange rates have been a major annoyance for the luxury goods sector, prompting Chanel and other fashion houses to harmonize prices.
