Mansur Gavriel Bag for Colette

Mansur Gavriel Bag for Colette

Designers Rachel Mansur and Floriana Gavriel aren’t new to being recognized for their intricate designs. The CFDA recently awarded the duo the Swarovski Award for Accessory Design and they have created an exclusive version of their best-selling bucket bag. The bag will take over a window at Colette during Paris Couture Week and is scheduled to make its debut July 6th with an inaugural event celebrating the brand’s first international collaboration. The bag is a metallic blue saffiano leather with a pony hair print, and will go on sale for 635 euros, or $700 at current exchange. Sarah Andelman, creative director and purchasing manager at Colette, commented on the collaboration calling it “one of the greatest surprises we had these last years.”

Trump Brand in Jeopardy at Macy’s

Powerhouse, Donald Trump is severing many ties within the media and retail world due to his controversial comment about Mexican immigrants in his presidential campaign last week. NBCUniversal has already cut ties with Trump and has pushed over 700,000 petitioners to work toward getting Macy’s to drop his line. There has been no comment from any Macy’s executives thus far, but it could pose a threat for the 28 billion dollar store. Since the airing of his controversial kick-off speech, Trump has done nothing to clear the air, and has fired back at NBC saying, “If NBC is so weak and so foolish to not understand the serious illegal immigration problem with the United States, coupled with the horrendous and unfair trade deals we are making with Mexico, then their contract violating closure of the Miss Universe/Miss USA will be determined in court,” pushing the network to drop his show “The Apprentice” just as quick. We’ll have to see what Macy’s next move will be.

Armani to Design Residence in Beijing

The Giorgio Armani group is on the move from their charity project offering infrastructure projects to third world countries, to their residential project inside Beijing’s Smart Hero-Central Park Plaza complex scheduled to open by the end of 2017. “Armani Casa” is set to design the common areas and amenities, along with several luxury apartments within the eco building. Giorgio Armani is thrilled to be working on this new project stating, “The Chinese concept of ‘Union of Nature and Man’ perfectly fits the aesthetic I developed for Armani/Casa, which constantly aspires at creating a sense of harmony inside the indoor spaces while respecting their natural context. The idea of matching an aesthetic created by people with natural materials and shapes represents for me the ultimate contemporary luxury.”
