BOSS Going Fur Free
Hugo Boss has decided to team up with the Humane Society and the Fur Free Alliance, and refrain from using any fur in their designs as of Fall 2016. The Fur Free Alliance (FFA) is currently made up of 40 animal protection organizations in 28 countries worldwide working together to stop the use of animal fur. Joining the movement could present challenges for future designs, but may be the beginning of a new trend. According to corporate outreach manager, PJ Smith of the Humane Society, “It’s especially significant because Boss is a luxury brand, and it may have a catalytic effect with other clothing companies appealing to high-end consumers.” This is one trend that would be hard not to love.
Brandon Maxwell to Launch Line
Designer and stylist, Brandon Maxwell will debut his very own line at New York Fashion Week this September with his ready-to-wear spring line. Maxwell is most famously known for dressing Lady Gaga for several years and although much of Gaga’s wardrobe has more of an artistic appeal, the designer is taking a more subtle approach with an emphasis on lean black suiting and gowns for evening wear. “I want women to want to wear the clothes, and I want people to say it was well-made and well thought out” Said Maxwell. With Brandon Maxwell’s previous experience, we have no doubt this line will be one to remember.
Bruce Oldfield and John Lewis Collaboration
British couturier Bruce Oldfield and department store John Lewis have collaborated in making a capsule collection with over 60 pieces for women that will debut in September. The collection includes faux-fur trim and jacquard coats, lace, wide-leg and skinny trousers, lace tops, and monochrome and velvet dresses inspired by the 80s era and the workwear designs from the current decade. The price range for these designs are valued between $92-$466 and for every little black ‘Bruce’ dress purchased, $31 will be donated to Barnardo’s, the children’s charity in which Oldfield is the Vice President. To check out the line visit johnlewis.com or visit your nearest John Lewis department store.
