Alexander McQueen Short Film Debuts
Nick Knight’s ShowStudio website has released a short film called “Lee Alexander McQueen, 1969-2010.” Knight worked with filmmaker Younji Ku and art director Jon Emmony to create the montage from ShowStudio’s archive footage of the late designer’s creations. In the film, the impact of McQueen’s most memorable looks was heightened by distorting the footage and adding 3-D animation. This weekend marked the close of the “Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty” exhibition at London’s Victoria & Albert Museum.
Alexander Wang Meeting With Investors
Alexander Wang is moving on from Balenciaga and reportedly searching for an investor for his namesake brand. It’s been 10 years since the designer launched his label, and the company has since expanded and is worth $100 million. According to industry insiders, Wang has been meeting with General Atlantic, a New York-based growth equity firm. However, details are under wraps regarding how much of his company he’ll sell. A potential new investor in his own company could be one of the reasons Wang and Balenciaga decided to part ways. He has served as Balenciaga’s creative director for the past three years, and both parties agreed not to renew his contract.
Hilary Rhoda & Via Spiga Collab Again
Hilary Rhoda is once again the star of a Via Spiga campaign. The model is the face of the footwear brand for fall, in images shot by photographer Sharif Hamza. The campaign will launch online in mid-August, and the collection will be available at viaspiga.com and at upscale department stores. “It’s an honor to be the face of an iconic brand that offers a variety of beautiful styles for every woman and every occasion,” said Rhoda. “Working with Hilary Rhoda on this campaign continues to strengthen our vision for the brand. She is the ideal ambassador to bring the Via Spiga woman to life,” said Jay Schmidt, President of Via Spiga’s parent company, Caleres.
