Lucky Brand Opens New Concept Store

Lucky Brand is striving to find its full retail potential with a new artisanal-meets-industrial concept store that recently opened at The Point in El Segundo, California. The door highlights a lifestyle encompassing everything from vintage watches and skinny jeans to indigo dye knits and antique Moroccan rugs from the brand’s first home offering. The 5,740-square-foot space is Lucky’s 171st store and serves as a template for a new shop opening this month in Summerlin, Nevada.

François Nars, Steven Klein Team for Cosmetics Collection

The makeup range, due in Nars Boutiques on Oct. 15 and in the brand’s full distribution on Nov. 1, was inspired by and features the imagery of Steven Klein. For example, the Tearjerker Eye Set, $39, features a masked mannequin doing dishes, while An Abnormal Female Lip Pencil Coffret, $65, comes in a box depicting a leather-collared woman with bright red lips all over her face (no eyes) that contains an oversize red-tipped bullet with three Velvet Matte Lip Pencils. The box for Killer Heels Mini Lipstick Set, $49, depicts black stilettos in the rain.The collection’s packaging looks unlike anything else on the market today and for Nars, that is exactly the point.

Jessica Simpson’s New Endeavor: Activewear

Jessica Simpson The Warm Up, represents the first major category expansion for her branded collection since partnering with Sequential Brands Group in April. Shipping at the end of October, the line initially will be available exclusively at Macy’s Inc. in 300 stores and at macys.com. Retail prices range from $24 to $49. The core performance technical fabric for leggings, sports bras and track jackets is called Extraordin-Air, a polyester-spandex blend that incorporates both sweat-wicking capabilities and four-way stretch.
