Labor Day is creeping around the corner and we all know what that means — summer is beginning to wind down and fall will be here in no time. So to prep ourselves for the impending change to our closets, now is the time to start slowly introducing transitional pieces into your day-to-day wardrobe. One trend that covered the Fall 2015 runways that we can start enjoying now is the liquid-y look of flowing silk. Lightweight, chic and easily converted from evening to day, pre-fall silks will usher your wardrobe into next season “seam”-lessly.
Need a quick fix for those late summer weddings? Make a statement in a sleek silk sheath in a bold monochromatic tone. Monique Lhuillier chose cool blue tones for her Fall 2015 silks, and we think the watercolor hue is a refreshing take on the trend. For another stellar designer version, we unearthed this gorgeous ruched number by Lanvin, for a fraction of the regular price. Snag this one now and wear it all year long!
Reliable sources tell us that marigold will be huge this fall. We saw several traces of fall’s next big color on notable runways like Zac Posen. He chose the shade in a voluminous pleated silk maxi skirt which got our wheels turning on how to incorporate the shade and the fabric into a look for daytime. The answer came to us in this adorable silk skirt from Chloe, a great piece to nab now and wear it all the way into holiday season.
After you’ve invested in jewel tones and eye-catching shades, be sure to add some neutrals to your silk stores as well. Costello Tagliapietra included a confection in gunmetal silk in their Fall 2015 collection. A universally flattering shade with an insane comfort quotient to boot, we wanted to shimmy ourselves into next season with a similar silvery top. Thanks to Giorgio Armani, our staple was quickly found in this silver printed tank, easily tucked under a blazer or paired with a leather skirt for an endless array of activities.
Keeping in the same vein as neutral and completely versatile, the silk boho blouse that Mara Hoffman has perfected is another shape that we’ll be seeing a lot of this fall. We loved her long tunic version from the Fall 2015 collection but again opted for something a little more streamlined to be used in the day-to-day. Alice + Olivia by Stacey Bendet offers a lace panel top in creamy silk that can be dressed up or down and, like the rest of these stellar silk pieces, are the perfect way to say good-bye to summer in the most stylish way.
