Fashion designer Tim Coppens was in town on Friday, just one day after the conclusion of New York Fashion Week to launch his new collaboration. The Under Armour UAS collection (and Tim) were at the Chicago Under Armour Brand House at 600 N. Michigan Avenue to celebrate this collection worthy of a celebration. The runway presentation looked amazing, but when I actually got my hands on the pieces, I was even more impressed! The collection offers the ultimately cool designs of Tim Coppens along with Under Armour’s fabrics and technology. The pieces for both men and women are extremely well-priced for their high quality. I’m obsessed with the shoes and sweaters for $139, that could sell for twice as much.
I was thrilled to meet Tim Coppens in person, who pointed out, “These pieces are not work-out wear, but someone could if they want.” He joked “I don’t care if someone wants to work out in a cashmere sweater.” Instead the collection consists of fashionable sportswear that is indeed functional, with insulated, thermal and high tech fabrics. For example, the cool-looking quilting on the coats and scarves is not stitched but actually fused together, and the sweaters have a beautiful weight and drape to them. I know I will head strait to the UAS x Tim Coppens section of the store all the time now! Tim told me to keep checking back at the store, because there will be more and more added as the line will continually be replenished year round, not only for spring and fall.
