The Chicago History Museum Host’s the City of Chicago’s 178th Birthday

Join the City of Chicago and the Chicago History Museum as they co-host a celebration to commemorate Chicago’s 178th birthday. The celebration includes live music, American Indian drumming, an essay contest and complimentary Eli’s Cheesecake. Children and adults throughout Chicago are invited to join in the celebration that takes place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event kicks off with a performance from members of the Latin School of Chicago Concert Band. Commemorative Day activities are free with Museum admission. As a special birthday treat, Museum admission is complimentary for Illinois residents on this day. The speaking program will begin at 11 a.m. and will include Chicago leaders David Kennedy, director of special events at the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events; Andrew Johnson, executive director of the American Indian Center of Chicago; and Peggy Montes, founder and president of the Bronzeville Children’s Museum.
