VC Signature NYC Flagship Opens

The upscale line from Vince Camuto, VC Signature is opening a 1,600 square foot flagship store this Saturday on Madison Avenue. The boutique offers selections from both VC Signature and Vince Camuto footwear, handbags, apparel, jewelry, swim, eyewear, women’s and men’s watches, as well as pieces exclusive to the Madison Avenue location. VC Signature footwear retails from $195 to $695, whereas Vince Camuto footwear retails from $118 to $275. In addition to footwear, the VC Signature range includes handbags, sunglasses and jewelry. The jewelry, which retails from $150 to $300, features statement pieces such as necklaces, bracelets and cuffs. Vince Camuto plans on opening five more U.S. stores and twenty more international locations by year’s end.

J. Crew Launching London Pop-Up Shop

J. Crew is giving London a preview of what’s in store before the official store opening later this year. For two days only, the brand will run a pop-up shop at the Western Transit Shed in King’s Cross, selling looks from its spring women’s, men’s and children’s collections. A preview of the fall collection will also be on show. A selection of cashmere pieces and one-of-a-kind jeweled collars will also be available, as well as the signature J. Crew monogramming service. The shop is next to the new home of Central Saint Martins, which J. Crew is supporting with a new design project and scholarship program. Exact dates for the pop-up shop have not been released at this time.

Necklace Valued At $2.6 Million Stolen In Cannes

Cannes has been struck by a second major jewelry heist, days after a reported $1 million-worth of jewels was stolen from the room of a Chopard employee who was staying at the city’s Novotel hotel. Fellow Swiss jeweler de Grisogono announced that a high jewelry necklace worth 2 million euros, or around $2.6 million at current exchange rates, was stolen during the house’s 20 the anniversary party at the Hôtel du Cap-Eden-Roc in Cap d’Antibes on Tuesday night, which had over 700 attendees, despite heavy-duty security. The missing necklace was part of de Grisogono’s 20th anniversary high jewelry collection, which was showcased at the event.

The Cannes Film Festival may be better known for its films than its fashion but the annual event is also known for bringing out the best of the red carpet as celebrities, models, designers, directors, screenwriters, and film stars. There, they showcase high fashion at its finest throughout the various photocalls, events, parties, and that red carpet at the Palais des Festivals leading up to the biggest movie premieres in town including The Great Gatsby, Hunger Games, and Blood Ties. L’Oreal, the ‘it’ makeup company for the Cannes Film Festival, has its ambassadors on hand and companies like FashionTV and DeGrisogono throw lavish and magical parties.

This year, fashion was definitely at an all-time high with fashionistas like Nicole Kidman on the jury panel, the Indian film world represented by people like Freida Pinto and Aishwarya Rai, and stars like Doutzen Kroes, Jennifer Lawrence, Marion Cotillard, Jessica Chastain, and Sharon Stone in town. Though hundreds of designer were represented — many of the fashionistas chose Christian Dior, Emilio Pucci, and Roberto Cavalli for their drop dead gorgeous gowns.

Others stars, including Carey Mulligan and Barbara Palvin, went for risk-taking looks like tuxedos for women, mod minidresses, or statement dresses with cutouts.

This is probably my favorite dress of the entire Cannes Film Festival so far and it appeared on the first day of the festivities. Nicole Kidman just amazes me sometimes. Also, having that body at that age doesn’t hurt.

What impressed me about this dress (besides the fact that Fan Bingbing can make anything look amazing) is that she has a tradition of wearing Asian traditional looks to the first day of the Cannes Film Festival and she changed it up this year, opting for something much more ladylike but still unbelievably gorgeous. She also rocked it in Elie Saab.

Daniella Helayel Exiting Issa London

The founder and creative director of Issa London, Daniella Helayel, is leaving the company. Helayel will be succeeded by Blue Farrier, who has worked for Stella McCartney, Anya Hindmarch, Sandro, and most notably with Phoebe Philo at Chloé.

Starting at the end of the year, Helayel is exiting the business to pursue other interests. In a statement issued to WWD, she said, “The time has come for me to move on to focus on my art, travel and other interests. Creating Issa has been one of the most rewarding things in my life. I may be leaving, but the Issa girl will live forever in my heart.” Helayel is a minority shareholder in the company.

Gwyneth Paltrow the Face of the Latest Hugo Boss Scent

Gwyneth fans rejoice! The Goop queen returns as the face of Hugo Boss’ new fragrance. The company has a new perfume, Boss Jour Pour Femme, designed to complement Boss Nuit Pour Femme. The scent is fruity-floral and has top notes of grapefruit and lime, freesia, lily of the valley, and honeysuckle. The base notes are white birch and creamy amber. The fragrance will hit stores starting this summer and will be available as an eau de parfum, body lotion, shower gel, and deodorant. The prices for the perfume range from $46 to $75.

Ralph Lauren Denim & Supply Opens Stores

Denim & Supply will open its second U.S. store today. Also the brand’s first in New York, the 4,000 square foot space in Manhattan formerly housed the Ralph Lauren Rugby shop. Denim & Supply opened their first U.S. store in Boston earlier this month.

The brand is characterized by youthful, denim-centric pieces that celebrate individualism. Twelve D&S stores have opened in Europe and Asia and the collection is sold at denimandsupply.com and in Macy’s stores throughout the U.S. as well.

Saks For Sale?

Late Tuesday it was reported that Saks Fifth Avenue had hired Goldman Sachs to explore options, including a possible sale of the company. In response, shares spiked 13% yesterday which is great news for shareholders.

Since the recession the retailer has slashed debt and closed under-performing stores, making it more attractive to big private-equity firms such as KKR and Leonard Green & Partners as well as foreign wealth funds.

Bloomberg News reported yesterday that KKR has weighed taking a stake in Saks and combining the company with nemesis Neiman Marcus. Can you imagine that?

BB creams, CC creams…I know it’s all totally confounding. Just walk into a Sephora and you’ll run out screaming. BB (Beauty or Blemish Balms) Creams provide coverage with added skin care benefits like SPF and anti-oxidants (and umpteen more depending on what brand you choose). They’re lighter than foundation but heavier than tinted moisturizers. Last summer I tested a ton of BB creams in a quest to find the best and just when I did…CC Creams became the ‘it’ thing. Figures, right?

A CC (Color Correction) Cream is basically a BB cream with the added benefit of color correction. So it’s one better. Especially if you are over the age of 35. This cream address issues like redness and sallowness and evens out skintone with light-diffusing particles. I have also found the coverage to be a little better than BB Creams, but still not as heavy as a foundation. This in my opinion, makes them perfect for summer. However, I still apply a high facial SPF before applying this.
