L’Oréal Paris Asks When Did You Last Answer the “Because I’m Worth It” Question?

0 / November 23, 2011 10:00 am

Can you believe it has been 40 years since L’Oréal Paris launched their landmark “Because I’m Worth It” slogan? Has it really been that long? It’s true. The slogan reflects an extraordinary journey that has accompanied women’s empowerment over the past four decades.

Written in 1971 when a social revolution and a new spirit of feminism was in full swing, these four words are bound to the time of their creation. While the commercial’s primary message related to the justification of product pricing – a more important social significance emerged: a woman’s value was to be found not only in her physical beauty but also in her sense of self-worth. “This celebration is about the extraordinary journey of a slogan that resonates today more than ever with women’s aspirations all around the globe. It reflects a certain vision of Beauty, made of self-esteem and empowerment, two values which we are very proud to have at the core of our Brand” says Cyril Chapuy, Brand Global President. Today, the slogan has been translated into 40 languages, and reflects L’Oréal’s  diverse conception of Beauty.

In honor of this momentous anniversary, we are asking you, our readers to leave us your “because I’m worth it” memory or favorite product that you will splurge on. One luck winner will win mine. Just leave us a comment to this post and we will pick a winner on Friday, December 2 (just remember to leave your email address). What is mine? Eye cream! Since the age of 19 I have been using eye cream religiously. Mind you at that age I didn’t have much money to spend on it, but as the years passed I spent more and more. Knowing that eyes are the first thing to reveal age, I figure I am totally worth spending a king’s ransom…and I do! I love good eye cream. What do you splurge on? Do share!

Blog Giveaway: Lad Named Felix Necklace!

0 / October 25, 2011 12:00 pm

Lad Named Felix was started locally in Chicago by owner and designer Jason Pike. Inspired by pop culture, vintage quirk, and timeless style, fans describe the jewelry line as “post-punk fabulosity” and “retro-future glam”. High-quality materials, vintage chain, industrial and precious metals, gemstones, crystal, and glass are all unique components in LNF line.

“The goal is to create bold and versatile statement pieces, mostly one of a kind, that transition easily from day to night,” said Pike when describing the line. “I consider jewelry to be a transformational tool – something men and women can use to temporarily take on new personas or express different facets of their personalities – that’s entirely fluid and ephemeral.

Fans can also see the line live at Squasht by Les and many of the Chicago jewelry and craft fairs around the greater Chicagoland area. Pike is also looking to get the collection in local Chicago boutiques. Prices for the new collection are between $45-$135. You can see this and a lot more at ShopLadNamedFelix.com!

Diane von Furstenberg New Julian Wrap Dress and Ahadahy Wrap Sweater Dress

Shopping on Shopbop can be mind-boggling, since they offer so many great designers and there’s a huge selection from which to choose. I can help you to simplify (maybe a bit). Recently I can’t stop loving DVF. Her designs are so classic. I know if I get one of the Diane von Furstenberg wrap dresses I can keep it for years! This fall the collection on Shopbop is absolutely gorgeous! The classic New Jullian Wrap Dress can fit into anyone’s wardrobe, and I’d like to get cozy in the Ahadahy Wrap Sweater Dress, a large geometric knit sweater dress version of the classic wrap for cooler temperatures.

Diane von Furstenberg Savannah Long Sleeve Dress

I am particularly obsessed with the Diane von Furstenberg Savannah Long Sleeve Dress. No jewelry is required when you wear this bold metallic stripe. And it looks so cool with black boots as shown on the runway. You can also find Diane von Furstenburg Sale items as well as hot accessories like chainlink woven leather Diane von Furstenburg Hobos.

Do you Love DVF, too? What is your favorite Diane von Furstenberg dress or accessory from Shopbop? Leave us a comment with your email* and one person will be selected to win a $100 Shopbop Gift Card. Hurry because you have only 10 days to enter!
