Here I am trying on Robert's Sunglasses during New York Fashion Week
Our hysterical friend and celebrity style guru, Robert Verdi is launching…what else? His first ever sunglass collection on HSN tonight and tomorrow! I have never seen Robert without his trademark sunglasses affixed to his bald head, so it only seems natural he develop and sell his OWN exclusive collection of sunglasses.
Famous for his celebrity clientele including Eva Longoria, Bethenny Frankel, Kathy Griffin, Hugh Jackman, Kristin Wiig, Joy Behar and Sandra Bernhard; you can expect an entertaining and hilarious segment when he brings his expert style advice to HSN viewers.

All of the sunglasses are named after Robert’s star clientele. Mind you, I am still waiting for the “Lauren” which in my dreams would be a smaller cat-eye (very Tom Fordish). Robert assured me they would be in his second collection. Ahem.

The peplum (a short overskirt that is usually attached to a fitted jacket, blouse or dress) made popular in the 40′s & 50′s by designers like Dior seems to reappear as a trend every decade or so. So it should be no surprise the peplum is back in a major way for Spring ’12. It was seen on the spring runway of Louis Vuitton, Balmain, Vera Wang, Thakoon, Jason Wu and a handful of others. The peplum is the perfect foil for disguising a little extra poundage around the middle. However, avoid a peplum skirt if you have wide hips. It will only make them appear larger. I had an opportunity to discuss Spring 2012 accessory trends with Neiman Marcus Fashion Director Ken Downing last month in NYC. One trend he said would be essential for Spring/Summer 2012 is a pair or two of silver shoes (he also said white shoes, but as a woman with a size 9 foot…THAT scares the hell out of me). When I look in my closet, all I see are boring jackets. I have your basic black, some tweed, some leather/suede and some color, but nothing with real visual interest or anything that pops with pattern. With winter still upon us, it can be challenging to still look cute while freezing outside. I have always been an admirer of hats, and this Helene Berman wide brimmed hat stole my attention. A quick way to change a look is to simply swap out the bottom half, in this case my pants and shoes! This blouse is … J Lo from Kohls! If you ever have shopped at Kohls you know almost everything is “take 30% off” and then with a coupon “take an extra 20% off” you pay about $20. In the case of this blouse, I thought the color made the fabric and the sleeve detail look more expensive than it was. It is a little boxy so I belted it with a leopard print scarf. I find leopard prints to be a go-to way to blend just about any color — with black! Leopard prints seem to match all skin tones and hair coloring, and can pull an outfit together in a natural way.

I will never forget my first pair of pointy toe flats. I was in high school and bought a pair in army green. I wore them to death. Literally. One day while I was at school (a day I obviously wasn’t wearing them) my mother discarded them since they were beyond repair. I have yet to forgive her. So needless to say, I am so excited they are back for Spring 2012 and I can continue to live out my teenage shoe dream. Or is it a nightmare? You know what they say. If you wore the trend once, you shouldn’t wear it again. But in this case I think we are safe. It’s just a shoe style. Nothing like wearing “Hammer” pants again. I used to have a fear of the color orange, until I realized you could call it “tangerine” and that it looks good on just about every skintone. Now I love it.
