Fountain of 30

Last night Second City Style got the chance to check out the latest and greatest from Alice + Olivia at Scoop NYC.  Unfortunately, designer Stacey Bendet couldn’t be there (no thanks to the weather), but her glittery little dresses, slinky tops, and perfectly cut pants were on display.

Here’s a little background on NYC-based Alice + Olivia, thanks to ShopBop.

"Launched in 2002, Alice + Olivia was born of designer Stacey Bendet’s personal quest to create the perfect pair of flattering and form-fitting pants. Her signature style was met with instant success, and "Stacey Pants" quickly became the daily staple and denim alternative for today’s retro sophisticate. The brand has continued to expand its horizons launching a cashmere collection in 2003 and a full contemporary collection in 2005, turning Alice + Olivia into the go-to brand for vintage style."

S/S 07 includes plenty of metallics and shine, in the form of mindresses, wide-leg pants, shorts, and bodysuits (yes, bodysuits).  "Our customers want to stand out from the crowd." Danielle Stapen, a rep for the line told us.  "We’re doing lots of little dresses and jumpers that can be layered over leggings as well as the signature pants."  Speaking of the pants, Alice + Olivia does the same basic styles in the collection season after season.  "They are proven shapes" says Danielle, "they fit a size 0 the same way as a size 12, and customers say they make them look two sizes smaller."  Sounds good to me!  Jacqueline Zenn for Second City Style.
