Color and silhouette say much about a style, but it’s the texture of the outfit that brings that ensemble to the next level. Just ask these four fashionistas who are the epitome of that “next level” with their stylish textured looks that give new meaning to the words super fashion.
Amber Heard: Charmeuse
Chiffon isn’t the only fabric getting some recognition around here. Amber Heard recently stepped out in a drop dead gorgeous purple dress at the “Magic Mike XXI” premiere and had tongues wagging with Monique Lhuillier’s use of silk charmeuse. The satin-y fabric is used by the likes of designers like Tadashi Shoji and Versace and adds a high quality and dressy sheen to any look. Heard doubles the effect of this shine with her beautiful choice of color. Go one step further by picking a bold color like purple or find a silk charmeuse top that also has ruching.
Lily Collins: Techy Knit
Lily Collins is always one to experiment with fashion so this midi Maje dress comes as no surprise. Nevertheless, the shorter skirt and overlay combined with the techy knit texture gives it a panache we always love to see on celebs who take risks with their style. Sheer overlay over a mini dress is an interesting new trend among the younger celebrities these days, as it gives their style a playful motif. Lily, on the other hand, stands out from the crowd, thanks to the coolness of the texture and her bold red lips. I could also see Kristen Stewart wearing this – with kicks instead of nude pumps.
Elisabeth Moss: Mixed Media
Is mixed media the way to go? It is if Elisabeth Moss has anything to say about it. Elisabeth Moss might have had a 50s and 60s style on Mad Men but the thing we love most about her own personal style (as seen on the red carpet) is how experimental she can be with prints, shapes and texture. Take for instance this mixed media sheath with lace on top and boucle on the bottom. They are two completely different textures and yet do not look at all overdone. That’s how to do it. And of course, pairing black and white with a punch of color is always a plus.
Jenna Dewan-Tatum: Quilted
Quilted isn’t only for bags. Just ask Jenna Dewan-Tatum, who flaunts a lovely quilted pencil skirt that fits her perfectly. While the see-through MaxMara leaves much to be desired, the dancer/actress proves that quilted items aren’t for accessories only. Celebs like Olivia Palermo, Kate Hudson and Rachel Bilson are fans of quilted clothing and can often be seen in quilted jackets, quilted patchwork dresses and more. However I much prefer the understated sophistication of this quilted pencil skirt and hope other fashionistas will follow suit.
