You don’t need to be going back to school to partake in the penny loafer trend this fall. In fact, they are so versatile you might find you live in them as much now as you did back in the day when you put a dime in the slot (or was that just me? Pay phones were a dime then). Actually the slot in the shoe was originally invented for moms to place a penny for their kids in case of an emergency. Phone calls used to cost a penny! Now we just laugh if we even see a pay phone. I digress.
There are so many varieties of penny loafers to chose from too. I prefer a flatter, pointy-toe leather version, but there some with sneaker bases, platforms and even with block heels. Style them with boyfriend jeans, a pencil skirt with a clean, crisp button-down, a shirt dress, a sweaterdress or the hot item of the season – ripped black jeans! Basically wear them to death because they go with everything in your closet. Your feet deserve to be happy for a season. Thank you Fashion Gods.
