New York Fashion Week Spring ’08. Cynthia Steffe Makes Some Noise. Second City Style Fashion Blog.

Fountain of 30

September 7, 2007 • New York Fashion Week Spring '08

Summary:
Cynthia Steffe created a fashionable sonic boom with her Spring ’08 collection.
In an explosion of color, the models bounced along to the music as they showed
off an updated version of classic American sportswear. While the neon colors  nodded to the ’80s, the designs were weightless and fluid with plenty
of energy and momentum.

Color
Palette:
Clear neon brights, such as sonic green, fuchsia and turquoise,
grounded by mineral colors and earth tones: zinc, chalk, citrine, lapis and
poppy (there has been a lot of poppy, and so far, Steffe’s saturated
execution is my favorite.)

Textures
& Details:
Signature shapes, classical tailoring with feminine contouring,
voluminous skirts and dresses, transparent hems, updated twin sets, dimensional
prints, slick synthetics, airy chiffon, cotton, silk and taffeta, punched-out
embroidery, plastic beading and bungee plaiting. Glossy fabrics.

Key Looks:
Sphere shaped jackets atop ethereal layered gowns, a pixilated camouflage
chiffon column dress, and an Ottoman print “sinan” tunic that would make the
perfect party dress.
