Summary: Douglas Hannant wanted to strip the drama out of clothing, at least that’s what he claimed for his Fall 2013 collection. The designer presented a collection dominated with classic shift dresses, belted elegantly with skinny, rectangular belts, and accented with a sprinkling of glitter, fur, leather, or all of the above.

Hannant kept his latest collection subtle, with features such as an over-exaggerated  leather peplum waist detailing, or black piping down a cerulean blue shift dress with matching coat. The statements would have been simplistic, were they not so bold.

Hannant had a fancy for jewelry this season, or at least jewel-tones. Since color was gravely missed in many collections this Fashion Week, we welcome these luxurious hues with open arms. Also keeping to tradition, Hannant kept femininity alive by cinching waist-lines and creating super flattering square necklines.

While the collection was a little too busy in some numbers, there’s no doubt that these dresses are not for the fashion faint-hearted! Bright red dresses and glittering floor-length gowns were made to be spotted!

Textures and Fabrics: Wool, leather, fur, silk crepe, nylon, and cotton.

Colors: Sapphire blue, silver, ivory, ruby red, amethyst purple, jade, and onyx.

Key Looks: Ivory long-sleeve belted shift dress with a dramatic fur scarf; One-shoulder red cascading silk gown; Cerulean corset gown with sheer polka-dotted sleeve detailing.
