Summary: Imagine this: the very British Kate Middleton goes on back in time and takes a holiday in Russia. That’s exactly the imagine that came to mind with Misha Nonoo’s Fall 2013 collection.
The silhouettes were feminine, with skirts flaunting a classic swing or A-line shape. Monochromatic floor length gowns were given small amounts of detailing to keep them interesting, such as: lace embroidery or cutout shapes. Then, they were topped with modern outerwear like a bright red leather moto or a military coat.
Speaking of military style, Nonoo seemed partial to the structured silhouettes of military coats and jackets. Blazers were given a clean, crisp finish, with strong gold and silver buttons. Patterns were also very much present in crop pants, skirts, and suit combos. We know how the Brits love those tartan patterns!
Nonoo also add more casual knits to her fall line. Chunky knit sweaters and sweater vests kept the vacay vibe going, contrasting a laid-back feeling to the stiff and structured military jackets.
Fur head accessories kept the models warm and the Russian vibe alive in this presentation, as did the snowy tree background set. In all, a collection fit for a fashion girl with eclectic taste.
Fabrics and Textures: Leather, silk, chiffon, knits, and cotton.
Colors: Red, black, the illusion of grey through intricate patterns, ivory, and white.
Key Looks: Black floor-length gown topped with a cherry red moto jacket; Demi-sheer black A-line skirt topped with a white cable-knit short-sleeve sweater; and ivory ankle skimming cut-out gown topped with a black structured military-esque coat.
