Summary: Presenting the very last day of Fashion Week can be a big disadvantage for designers. After 7 long, hard, exhausting days of running from one show to another, it’s almost safe to say that we’ve seen it all. So it would’ve taken something really different, and really innovative to seriously wow me at this last event.
Stephen Burrows didn’t disappoint. He premiered his Spring 2013 collection at The Out’s Great Lawn. The faux green atmosphere couldn’t have been more perfect as NYC’s weather shifts to the chilly side. The colorful, fruity cocktails being served were the perfect introduction to Burrows’ fun, bright, and vacation-appropriate collection. Burrow stuck to his signature array of eccentric hues, bold prints, and slinky fabrics. Dresses and skirts in vibrant shades of pink, orange, and blue were the show-stoppers here, but the black swingy top with abstract, circular accents created quite a buzz as well. Burrows’ goal for this collection was to deliver looks that were comfortable and relaxed. Safe to assume that he accomplished just that.
Perhaps the one thing that can take away the spotlight from Burrows’ collection was the number notable guests that were spotted. Burrows’ list of fashion a-list attendees included: Debbie Dickinson, Pat Cleveland, Alva Chinn, and Rennie White. With a flirty, fun collection and more than fabulous company, I couldn’t think of a better way to end the week.
