Summary: Let’s not kid ourselves, when it comes to eveningwear few can beat Badgley Mishka. Their fabrics, craftsmenship and attention to detail are unparalleled. Unfortunately, the same can not be said of their sportswear. At least not this collection. Last February, when the duo presented their on the runway sportswear for the first time it made for a show that just amazed from beginning to end. Yesterday the show was a little disjointed and had a noticable beginning, middle and end. A very good end, however.
The first few looks of mostly daywear, shorts and bathing suits were nothing extraordinary, but as soon as Roxy Music’s "Angel Eyes" came blasting over the sound system, I knew the winds would be changing and thankfully they did. The gowns were spectacular. Badgley Mishka delivered. I for one wish they would go back to focusing on their eveningwear instead of amassing thier empire which now consists of sportswear, swimwear, dresses, evening, couture, shoes, handbags, jewelry, watches, hats, scarves, glasses, belts and lingerie…oh yes, and perfume.
