The thing about a loose end is that once you find it, enough of a pull could make everything unravel. Thankfully, Thakoon’s Spring ’08 collection is both finished and a breath of fresh air.
Somewhat deviating from the flapper style of his colleagues, he proffers a somewhat preppy palette of kelly green, navy blue and sun yellow as a foundation. But it’s the pleasant but purposive use of pattern that really makes the collection stand on it’s own with a smart and refreshing attitude. Thick, geometric stripes, pinstripes speak easily to block print-style monochrome and full-color florals. Distinctly feminine, the collection also boasts a variety of waistlines with the cinched waist and elongated hemlines being common denominators that link dresses, skirts and shorts.
