NY Fashion Week Spring ’08. Temperley’s Tempest. Second City Style Fashion Blog

Fountain of 30

September 9, 2007 • New York Fashion Week Spring '08

Summary: After an amazing show last February, our expectations were set pretty high. The program purported the inspiration was from the French seaside scenes of the 30’s in Deauville and Biarritz, so we couldn’t have been more excited. However, this wasn’t exactly the romantic Temperley we had come to love. Yes, there were the established Temperley knit graphic print dresses, but not many. There was also a darker and explorative side to the show that didn’t always work like a dark
tailored wool waistcoat over baggy trousers, bloomer-esque jumpsuits, paper-bagged
trousers (a trend we are seeing and couldn’t be more displeased), a jumpsuit we thought would make a gorgeous bathing suit and hideous flat oxfords and boxing boot footwear that was completely distracting. In the end, the show seemed rather disjointed. Well, there’s always Target next month. However, Simon Lebon from Duran Duran was in the front row and that made everything OK.
