Minimalism or less-is-more appears to be the hot trend for Spring ’08. Here are looks from some of the shows:

Badgley_2
Badgley Mischka

The Badgley Mischka woman likes to spend time at the beach and looks great when she just tosses on her cocktail dress for evening. Makeup artist Tom Pecheux swiped a bit of mascara on the top lashes and made the models’ lips pop with an electric fuchsia gloss on her lips.

Since African safari was a major look on Tia Cibani’s runway, makeup artist Greg Wencel kept the face slightly moist (humidity) and placed emphasis on tanned cheeks and a matte terra cotta lip. The eyes were open-up with a hot trend for spring…white eyeliner. Paint a white line close to the lash line and forget black cat eyes by spring.

Say hello to the fluorescent orange mouth! Charlotte Tilbury used a combination of three M-A-C products to create the look: a M-A-C orange lip pencil, Morange lipstick and Lip Mix. The mouth was counterbalanced by a large "C" shape of gloss painted in a semi-circle from the brow and eye bone over the cheekbone.

Think Lauren Hutton from the 70’s. James Kaliadros used M-A-C Paint Pots for the eyes (a cream that dries to a powder) in gold a taupe tones. Mascara was used on the top lashes only and for the lips he used M-A-C’s hot new color for spring 4N (a petal-sprigged pinky beige). Then glossy highlighter was used above the cheekbones.

Tom Pecheux used bright Parrot blue on the eyelids then covered the creases with a shimmery dark grey to give the look sophistication. The mouth was dabbed with M-A-C N3 lipstick (a putty-ish pink nude) and no lip color.

Polly Osmond channeled to look of a Picasso with a heavy brow, clumpy, spiky lashes a peachy cheek and Morange lipstick with Lip Conditioner.

Since the Carolina woman is always chic, Diane Kendal amped it up with a sophisticated minimalist face. The brows were filled in naturally, the eyes were glossed and shiny, but the mouth was the standout. The lips were dabbed with orange lipstick then double-dabbed with red in the centers of the models’ mouths. Then a light wash of fuchsia was applied all over in a filmy layer.

Polly Osmond shined the cheek and brow bones using a taupe shiny gloss on the eyes and no mascara or brow enhancement. For a slightly bitten look, she used M-A-C Cafe Matte Lipstick. "It’s time for a return of iridescence and beiges and browns are classics, not trendy."

You know this look isn’t going to be subtle! Charlotte Tilbury and Gwen Stefani both love the smoky, vampy look of the fifties and sixties. So for spring Tilbury did a 3-D smoky grey eye. She put charcoal powder at the crease and above the lashes. The face was finished with a very sheer beige lip and long white shiny fingernails.

Carlos Miele

Since Carlos Miele does glamor to a T, Romy Soleimani added a little brown red lip gloss to her berry lips and warm blush with a touch of mascara.

Here we ago again…70’s inspiration. This time…Twiggy. James Kaliardos applied mascara to the top and bottom lashes with no liner. A pinkberry pale blush was used on the cheekbone and a berry stain on the lip.
