Once upon a time, there was a beautiful princess. She wrote for a fabulous blog called Second City Style in a magical place called Chicago. One day this princess had to write about a random wedding happening in a far away land that no one should have cared about. Yet that fabulous blog was there to give you all the little fashion details that are so important.
For those of you who have been up since 4 am, you've been staring at Kate as she partook in the most important day since the earth starting turning. Or maybe you've just have a princess fantasy that you still haven't sorted through as an adult.
The bride wore a gown from Sarah Burton of Alexander McQueen. Yes, the dress was classic, beautiful, and looked gorgeous on Kate, but it wasn't what was expected. Diana's dress was the dress heard round the world and Kate stepped out in a very classic retro shape that won't lend itself to any fashion hall of fame because that was the norm dress back in 1950. To further prove it, Grace Kelly got married in 1956 and her dress was the prequel to this year's. I loved the dress, but not for a royal wedding with this much hype.
Kate decided to wear her hair down, but I'm not sure why. She's got this really detailed dress, this gorgeous veil, and then just her brown hair sitting there. Isn't being a princess ALL about the up-do? She would have looked more elegant with her hair pulled back. I am rather happy thought that she did her own make up. After taking a few lessons from professional make-up artist, Arabella Preston, Kate felt ready to take on her face alone. Her make up was perfect, very natural while bringing out her features.
The best part about the wedding was the hats! I have never seen such fabulous headpieces especially all in one place. Philip Treacy's hats were the hat du jour though with his name being on the most fabulous ones. All the ones above are Philip Treacy.
So the magic has happened, and while most of us are happy for it to be over, some of you are not sure what to do next. It's okay, we'll get through the royal hangover together. Let us know your thoughts on the wedding! Favorite and least favorite fashions?
