Cold Weather Fashion Essentials

We hate to say it, but sub-freezing temperatures and mountains of snow and ice don’t exactly have us reaching for our most stylish outfits. Yes, the lower the weather dips, the more we sacrifice fashion for functional. That doesn’t always have to be the case though, because believe it or not, there are some stylish (and yes, functional) winter items out there that can help you through this tough season. Keep reading to find out which pieces might just save your style this season.

1. Gloves are no doubt essential right now, but totally block out the cold with a pair of mile-high ones in chic leather. Bottega Veneta Intrecciato Long Leather Gloves, $590

2. When you’re running to-and-fro on a busy day, you just don’t have time to constantly replace your scarf and hat on your head every time you step outside. Slip on a snood and never miss a beat of your busy day! Helmut Lang Transient Ribbed Snood, $185

3. If you’re wearing your thickest wool coat and still find yourself shivering, add a layer of shearling via an oversized vest. You’ll be surprised at the instant difference! DKNYpure Funnel Neck Shearling Vest, $2,200

4. Ever wonder why we love cozy sweaters during this time of the year? Because they are super comfortable and keep us unbelievably warm! Now imagine having that coziness in a pair of leggings. Sounds like heaven, right? Free People Hendrix Sweater Legging, $68

5. Take a nostalgic turn and opt for a pair of over-the-knee socks to pair with your boots. They’ll not only keep you warm and comfortable, but the cozy knit on top is tall enough to peek over your boots, giving your look a chic European-esque finish. SmartWool Over the Knee Socks, $26.95

6. Since the snow has made it impossible for us to not wear snow boots, we might as well pick the best in the bunch. These Lace-up Sorels come with a handful of embellishments, from buckles to laces, and will definitely keep your feet dry. Sorel Lace Up Cold Weather Boots – Conquest Carly, $220

7. If you rather not have the dreaded winter hair, keep your head warm with a sophisticated pair of earmuffs: Surell Fox Fur Velvet Band Earmuffs, $115
