Red Carpet Fashion. The CFDA Awards.

Fountain of 30

June 3, 2008 • Celebrity Style

In a complete departure from the casual, rocker, and sexy looks of the MTV Movie Awards, the stars and fashion elite got all dolled up to attend the CFDA Awards last night in NYC. While many wore YSL in tribute to the late designer, all of the looks were statements in their own right.

Mandy Moore
Moore graduates from her pop-singer start in this navy gown. She looks statuesque and mature in a beautiful way!

Hilary Duff

Duff doesn’t get quite as far from her pop star persona in sparkly violet, yet looks  young but chic nonetheless.

Ashley Olsen

Olsen wears another menswear inspired outfit, much like the one she wore to the SATC NYC premiere. We think that this one is much more successful, since her pants actually fit and her simply chic shoes can been seen! An excellent twist on the tux.

Maggie Gyllenhaal

Here’s where a menswear-inspired look goes wrong. The length of the graphic top obscures the pants, making them less a focal point and more a distraction. And her hair and red lip aren’t working for us either. Sad, because we usually think The Dark Knight star succeeds in her quirky style!

Georgina Chapman

The Marchesa maven demonstrates that fashion is her life and her living. The red look is executed perfectly and remains subtle despite the bold hue.

Karolina Kurkova

Kurkova shines in a metallic and white trench-coat inspired gown. The hem, gathered with a bow, elevates the garment from coat to couture. And her stack wedge heel is the best way to do a white shoe!

Eva Longoria Parker
Eva seems to really be channeling her NBA-baller’s-wife role in this outfit. Maybe she would have looked more appropriate at the MTV Movie Awards…

The amount of chic outfits at this event was staggering, but what else could you expect at the CFDA Awards? It was a stylist night in New York City!
