Shoes. The Shape of Shoes to Come. Fall 07 Trends for Now. Second City Style Fashion Blog

There are some great sales going on, but designer shoe deals could still be an investment. You don’t want to be caught standing in a dying trend. So it’s a good idea to take another look at this Fall’s 07 runway shoe shapes before sales shopping. You still may be able to wear them this Fall, or even next year.

One overall observation on Fall 07 shoes is their balance. Platforms aren’t quite so high and the heels are curved or tapered to soften the look. There are heavier straps on sandals at Michael Kors which balance the platforms on the soles. The brightness of the gold platform eases the darkness of black. Where there’s a heavy up, then there’s a lighten up. Even at Dior where the platforms are extreme, the ankle straps form a sort of "caged booty" with an open weave which balances the high platform. The Mary Janes at Cavalli have a modern thicker angle cut strap and squared off toe, which contrast the graceful and refined curved heel. More give and take. And the alligator pump at YSL has a shorter pointed toe which adds balance once again with a hefty heel.

  1. there seems to be a bit of uglineess in store. But I can say I am pleased about the presence of the platform. I enjoy how they lengthen the leg – and today’s versions are much more wearable than the 70’s versions.
one thing I notice is texture on the shoes…plenty of it.

  2. Platform Shoes
