Although Renata Espinosa of FashionWireDaily seems to give this line a thumbs up I have to respectfully disagree. Usually I look to Puma for a certain amount of street cred and an great spin on streetwear style, these shoes look like a desperate attempt to mine 80s ecelectic or just too bland. But clearly that’s just my very humble opinion…
Puma’s Spacemen Kicks
One brand, hundreds of sneaker styles: Puma’s latest offerings for Fall ‘07 run the gamut. There’s the classic suede Clyde updated with nu rave day glo colors to some modern space age kicks for moon walkers and street talkers in Puma’s latest collaboration with Mihara Yasuhiro, Tokyo streetwear designer extraordinaire.
Two new designs that FWD likes: Alexander McQueen’s pointy toe take on Puma’s 1970s Basket shoes, the AMQ Scenester, with its clear sole molded to look like muscle and bone, and a poppin’ and lockin’ gold high top with pink laces that looks like a cross between a hiking boot and an ‘80s basketball shoe. And why not take a hike? Well-worn trails in Moab wouldn’t look half-bad with this slick sneaker.
