Remember this song form Sesame Street?

One of these things is not like the others,
One of these things just doesn’t belong,
Can you tell which thing is not like the others
By the time I finish my song?

Well, oh joy. Just when you thought Chicago was taking a step in the right direction, along comes news of an Ugg store opening in the most upscale part of the city. As Sandra Jones said the Tribune back in August…"The "luxury" footwear manufacturer (Ugg Australia) has begun construction of
its first Chicago store at 909 N. Rush St., near the corner of Delaware
Place and Rush Street in the Gold Coast. The 3,500-square-foot Ugg store is slated to open Oct. 13."
That’s a lot of space for some fugly boots.

Here is the deal…Uggs are not luxury (Sorry Sandra) and they were so four years ago (which is why the company probably chose Chicago). This is two giant steps back.

Yes, I own a pair, but they were for Chicago winter dog walking only! They were notUgg_sundance
a fashion statement, just a necessity. So before you go out snapping up a pair or two and thinking you are all Cameron Diaz (wear them with your ripped jean shorts or worse a skirt)…remember, Chicago ain’t Hollywood and it looked retarded anyway. I shudder.

Do yourself a favor and step away form the Uggs. They certainly are no longer a fashion statement. Well not a good one. How sad they will be littering the vastly improving Gold Coast.
