High waisted jeans are on the rise; at least that’s what you would expect to see after the J Brand Jeans’ event held last Thursday at Barney’s Co-op on Halsted in Chicago. The tall and exceptionally thin sales girls were all wearing similar dark-washed denim JBrand Jeans with the waistline hugging their natural waist, not their hips. While the fashionably attired attendees were wearing loose flowing tops over their leggings and low waisted pants, the J Jean reps had their slim tops tucked into their pants, moving away from the “is she pregnant” look and towards a slim and fabulously sexy look. They told me the reason JBrand high-waisted jeans look so great on women of many shapes and sizes is because of XFIT LYCRA, the new technology that offers four way stretch and keeps jeans looking as though they are brand new.

While the high waist pant has been on store shelves for quite some time, fashionistas still prefer the ultra low waist jeans. However, while most women are sure to resist the return of the higher waistline they shouldn’t write them off too quickly. Where the lower rise slacks cut the leg off at the hip, the higher waist will elongate your legs and make you look trimmer over all.
