Intermix Chicago opened at 40 E. Delaware today! Second City Style was there at 10am with our noses pressed against the windows ready for our private tour before the doors opened to the public at noon.
I have been to a few Intermix stores in New York, but this one is bigger and I have to say, laid out better. The location on the corner of Delaware and Rush could not be better. The window displays are a beacon from virtually every direction. Intermix was scouting Chicago for ages and finally found the location that worked for them, and boy, what a location it is!
The store is arranged by lifestyle – evening, daytime & casual (instead of designer). I didn’t really check out the casual (which is mostly comprised of t-shirts and sweats) because I’m not a casual girl. However, you could have left me in the evening section for days. What I like most about Intermix is that every item you see on the site is in the store and in the case of Chicago…and then some! There were Chloe shoes & bags, gorgeous frocks by Stella McCartney and Matthew Williamson, great See by Chloe dresses, a killer Alice Ritter jacket and fantastic lantern sleeve tops and mini dresses by Lacey Parker (an exclusive to Intermix line).
One thing Intermix does so well (that some local boutiques could learn from), is carry multiple items from a designer’s collection. You don’t have to worry that you will find only one item from Jovovich-Hawk‘s spring collection. There is something for everyone.
Additionally, there are special editions of private labels by designers such as Aisha Levine and Sweet Tater for Intermix. Oh and I can’t forget, Loeffler Randall Annika Peep Toe Skimmer shoes in a special mix of colors just for Intermix.
And never fear Chicago, we will be included in Intermix’s Black Book Jet Set Guide in 2008! For $18 you can purchase this handy reference for restaurants, bars, clubs and hotels in the cities where Intermix currently has stores. (The 2007 edition includes, NYC, The Hamptons, Boston, DC, Miami, Atlanta, Dallas & Vegas Baby). Intermix’s Black Book
Yeah! Intermix is here and we are happy to have you. Mozel Tov.
