Bill Cunningham’s Splish Splash Photo from the New York Times

How true. Last week while New York experienced some pretty soggy days and I some pretty soggy feet, I found myself noticing an odd trend here in New York. Colorful and childlike rain boots. What made it even more odd is that I found myself wanting a pair. Such a fashion non-statement, yet I figure the more wild the better. Who wants just plain black Wellies?

From Bill Cunningham’s Sunday "On the Street": Candy-colored boots were the uniform during
last week’s rain as buses and taxi cabs created
mini tidal waves along Fifth Avenue, often
drenching unsuspecting tourists in flip-flops.
But New Yorkers were prepared, some wearing
Wellington-style rain boots in darker colors,
which were no match for the rainbow-colored
umbrellas. Even a tiny dog wore rain gear.

So let’s go rainboot shopping, shall we?

The Magic Carpet rainboot is a bit too much… although one could pull it off with matching colors up top, I suppose.
