The Skinny On Chic Coats With Slim Trousers

Statement Coats, Skinny Pants

The fall season is rapidly approaching…again. How did this happen? Weren’t we just frolicking in the warm summer sun, having lunch outside, after-work rooftop cocktails and almost endless three-day weekends? Autumn has returned to the Windy City in full force. Though this is a little heartbreaking, it is also time for my favorite clothing ensemble of all seasons: the coat/skinny pants combo.

Nothing can go from day to night as easily as a sleek coat and tailored, fitted pants. Sure, a chic skirt can be just as stylish but knowing the schizophrenic weather, you might be freezing your gams off by lunch time. Forget trying to make it all night with shivering, blue legs. Plus, this is a look that you (once again) only need to change a few accessories for a boost of glamour.

A standout coat is always going to be a must for the season. This is probably the only time you can get away with an outerwear piece that doesn’t necessarily have to be warm. It might be easier to layer up with a chunky sweater (unless that is fitted too). Lots of neoprene jackets offer the extra space but keep a sleek exterior. Not to mention, neoprene keeps it’s on-trend appeal. And well-tailored pants are always given. I love the way the oversized outwear balances the slim cut, so it’s no surprise that this is visually flattering for all ages, shapes and sizes.
