Burberry, Snapchat Team Up for Fashion Week

Burberry will team up with the social messaging platform Snapchat for a multipronged marketing push surrounding its women’s runway show Monday, which will also feature a live music tie-in with Apple Music. The night before the show, Burberry will give Snapchat users a sneak peek of the looks that will be on the runway. And while some designers have been known to tease their collections online with a look or mysterious snippets of a coat or dress, the brand will be revealing significantly more via short videos on the platform. All of the content will disappear after 24 hours.

Hermès to Open Store at American Dream Mall

Hermès is the second major luxury tenant to sign on to American Dream, the new megacomplex in the Meadowlands in Rutherford, New Jersey. In American Dream, Hermes will sit across from Saks Fifth Avenue, the other luxury nameplate signed on to the project. The Hermès store will be 8,000 square feet on two stories, and will replace a unit roughly half that size in The Shops at Riverside in Hackensack, N.J. The new store will bow in fall 2017.

H&M, Lush Campaign to Ban Animal Testing in China

Hennes & Mauritz and Lush have helped launch the #BeCrueltyFree China campaign in partnership with animal protection organization, the Human Society (HSI). As part of a global campaign launched by HSI in 2012, the China project aims to make the ethical treatment of animals a priority for the domestic fashion industry. It has also garnered support from Chinese actress, singer and formed MTV China star, Zhu Zhu, the campaign’s poster celebrity. The campaign seeks to bring about policy change, including national legislative bans on animal testing of cosmetics and the improvement of farm animal welfare within wool and down production.
