Trends to Avoid. The Tube Top. Second City Style Fashion Blog

Fountain of 30

May 29, 2007 • Fashion

Every season there are one or a handful of trends that you just need to avoid at any and all costs. May I present the tub tube top. Wear one of these and automatically add pounds. These were bad in the 70’s and equally as heinous 30 plus years later. They push your boobs down and that’s never a good look. Here are some particularly offensive styles:

This is one secret Victoria should keep.

  1. Those tube rompers are absolultely heinous. Of course, it’s not like I have high expections of Forever 21, and ShopBop always has some weird things mixed in their generally great stuff.

  2. Tube tops like this are awful. Any woman worth her strapless bra knows the ‘girls’ should be further north than that.
And while we’re on the subject of unflattering trends: maternity wear. Most of the items being sold in stores so closely mirror maternity wear.
Babydoll dresses and tops do just that…they make it look like you’re expecting a baby within the year.
Don’t get me wrong, I see it look great on some women, but it takes a certain physique to pull it off. Your limbs must be so toned that there is no question you have taut abs and thighs under that tent. 😉

I couldn’t agree more! And you know how many women actually have that kind of body? I would say less than 2%. I hold my Slimfast can up for a toast to that last comment…
